From 23rd February, 1917 to 27th February, 21st London of 142 Brigade, 47th Division, were holding the front line at Hill 60 in the Ypres salient. The Battalion Diary records only the state of the trenches which were very poor as a thaw set in and the work the men did to improve them. There is no mention of any casualties but there were some, most likely the result of shell fire. One of them was Frederick Desaleux who was killed on 25th February. |
